REFLECTION:
UNFORGETTABLE AND EXPERIENCED JOURNEY

Welcome to my Making Media Final Reflection!
Making Media was one of the two courses in RMIT Vietnam University that I chose to study this semester, along with the Foundations of Public Relations course. I had high expectations for this course since it was a creative subject and I could freely express my creativity by making podcasts, designing magazines, making websites, and writing blogs. Through the 11-week journey, I could find my strengths and weaknesses with Dr. Soumik Parida and my beloved teammates.
My dream workplace is a dynamic and professional environment in the Communication and Advertising industry; therefore, I always desire to develop my creativity highly and enhance my analytical, critical thinking, and solving skills. I always try my best to achieve the goals although I have not determined what I will do in the future. With new experiences I have gained during the course will support me greatly in my future career.

THE STRENGTHS:
By doing group work with my teammates, I could learn many things that were significant for my professional experiences. The first assignment of the Making Media course was Podcast. In this assignment, I was responsible for proof-reading and editing the music and sound effects for the podcast. At first, I got many struggles in editing the audio since it was my first time editing. I had to see many tutorial videos Dr. Soumik Parida had sent so that I could manage the audio perfectly. The next assignment was our Elpis Magazines. In the magazines, I was the Content Writer and proof-reader for the assignment; therefore, I could learn how to manage my time by sending the draft content on time to my teammates to design the magazine. One of the skills I have learned is consistency and patience. I had to get on well and listen to other people’s ideas as my future career will relate to dealing with customers and working in a group. While discussing with other teammates about the assignments, we had different thoughts and it caused several arguments, but in the end, we could manage it. Writing skill was one of the skills I have learned during the course. Before studying at RMIT Vietnam University, I was afraid of writing as English was not my mother tongue and the writing style was different from the Vietnamese one. But after the course, I have more confidence in writing since I was responsible for the content of the podcast, magazine, and blog’s website.
THE WEAKNESSES:
Although I expected after this course I could use effectively Photoshop and InDesign, I just knew a few functions in them. As my responsibility was Content Writer and my teammates already knew how to use those Adobe tools, I did not have enough chances to design the magazines with my teammates. I just knew the theory about the font, layout, color, or how to make our assignments more professional that I had learned in class but I could not practice it. Deadlines followed deadlines; therefore, I could not spend enough time self-learning the Adobe. This was what I regretted most after the course.
MY FUTURE PATH:
To be honest, I love the Communication and Advertising Industry. I love the way people can deal with crisis or risk and come up with striking and outstanding ideas for an advertisement. I am not a creative person, honestly, but I will always try my best to learn from other people, such as my teammates and Dr. Soumik Parida. By choosing this course, I could have an opportunity to explore what my strengths and weaknesses are to develop myself and go on the right path. I still consider between two majors - Public Relations and Advertising because I have not finished the study yet, but I believe after three years at RMIT Vietnam University, I will find out my suitable future job.

Our dearest lecturer and my team

Finally, I really appreciate Dr. Soumik Parida - my professional and dedicated lecturer, who gave me much advice and guided me during the course. And thanks to my teammates who have been studying and doing the assignments with me. From them, I could learn many valuable things as well as understand true friendship.
